Statement Japan AALA Solidarity Committee
Strongly condemn the U.S. attack on Venezuela and
call for support and solidarity with the Venezuelan
people fighting to defend their sovereignty.
January 3, 2026
On January 2, President Trump announced that the U.S. military had
launched a military attack on Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, detained
President Maduro and taken them out of the country.
We strongly condemn this brutal act of aggression that violates Venezuela’s
sovereignty and independence, and demand an immediate end to the attack
and the release of the President.
The United States has deployed massive military forces off Venezuela’s
Caribbean coast, launching illegal military actions such as attacking ships
under the pretext of drug-related offenses, killing over 110 people, and
seizing multiple tankers. This has sparked international protests. Ignoring
these voices, this attack is an outrageous act that blatantly tramples upon
the UN Charter and international law, for which no excuse can be tolerated.
Immediately after the attack began, President Maduro declared a state of
emergency. The Venezuelan government issued a statement condemning
the attack and called on the people to take to the streets to defend their
independence from imperialist aggression. Venezuelan National Assembly
President Cabello and Attorney General Sarb condemned the attack via
broadcast, emphasized their readiness to fight, and called on the people to
join the struggle. Citizens gathered near Miraflores (the presidential
palace) in Caracas to condemn the attack, declaring, “If such an attack is
tolerated, no country’s citizens can have freedom or a future,” and calling
for international solidarity.
We respond to this call by denouncing the Trump administration’s
outrageous act and calling for solidarity actions with the Venezuelan
citizens fighting back.
